Russ Brubaker

Russ Brubaker joined TaxCloud in 2013 after a 27-year tenure at the Washington State Department of Revenue, where he served as Senior Assistant Director for Tax Policy. He led the agency’s Legislation and Policy, Rules and Interpretations, and Research Divisions, and advised on national tax policy during Gov. Christine Gregoire’s administration.

Russ also served as President of the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Governing Board in 2012. He has testified before Congress on digital goods and contributed to federal legislative issues.

A recipient of the Wade Anderson Memorial Medal for Leadership in Interstate Tax Cooperation, Russ has also chaired numerous boards and committees in various sectors.

Prior to his government service, he taught English at the University of Rochester, managed a small business, and advocated for non-profit organizations. He resides on Whidbey Island.
